Drill America's 3/4"-14 NPT HSS 5 Flute Pipe Tap. Also called pipe taps, high-speed steel NPT pipe taps are designed to create new threads or clean and re-thread damaged or jammed pipe threads. They are suitable for threading a wide variety of materials, both ferrous and non-ferrous. The nominal size of a pipe tap corresponds to the size of the pipe fitting to be tapped, not the actual size of the tap, and the thread tapers 3/4 of an inch per foot. All pipe taps are furnished with a 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 thread chamfer. NPT threads require the use of a sealer, such as Teflon tape or pipe compound.
